Asbel Escobar Hernandez
Hometown: Houston, Texas
School: Harmony School of Ingenuity
Asbel Escobar, born in El Salvador, moved to Houston, Texas at the age of four with his family. Growing up, he gained a unique perspective watching his immigrant parents rebuild their lives from scratch, which promoted a deep appreciation for and comprehension of the hispanic community. A dedicated student and advocate for those in his community, Asbel channels his passion for community service and politics as President of his schools political organization “Service Leadership Society”, where he wrote, presented, and passed needed legislation for the improvement of the Texas electrical grid at the Texas Capital. Beyond policy work, Asbel collaborates with his Texas district school board of education member, Stacy Childs, where he strives to better the education given to those in his community. Eager to make an even bigger impact, he applied to CHCI NextGen. Asbel saw this as a chance to grow his abilities, expand his network, and gain tools to create real change. For him, it’s all about honoring his family’s sacrifices and seizing every opportunity to serve.
