Bryan Gonzalez
Congressional Intern, Presented By: Meta
Hometown: Homestead, Florida
School: Florida State University
Major: Political Science
Placement: The Office of Rep. Darren Soto
A child of two immigrants from Cuba who fled their homeland in the pursuit of a better life, Bryan was born and raised in Portland, Oregon before moving to his current city of Miami, Florida as a teenager. Growing up, Bryan was made aware of the hardships that many immigrants and their families face in the U.S. in their pursuit of the idealized American dream, and this would drive his interest in government and politics.
After graduating from high school, Bryan would become the first generation of his family to attend college as he continued his education at Florida State University. During his time as an undergraduate, Bryan was involved all over campus, which included the Hispanic/Latinx Student Union as a mentor for younger students, being the president of two student organizations as well as being involved with student government and the campus newspaper on campus and advocating for fellow students through these positions. At the conclusion of his undergraduate career, Bryan would graduate with a bachelor’s degree in political science and international affairs as well as receive the Torchbearer 100 award, which is given to 100 students that have made a profound impact on campus life at Florida State University. Bryan plans to continue his education at FSU with a master’s in public administration.
As a CHCI intern, Bryan hopes to grow and learn from those around him and further develop his leadership skills through this unique experience of being at the center of American public life.
