David Rendon-Garcia grew up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was raised by Colombian parents. As a rising high school senior, he holds multiple leadership positions at his school, actively participating in the performing and musical arts (Chamber Orchestra), service and fundraising organizations for pediatric cancer (MiniTHON Senior Head), student council (Class Representative), newspaper (Editor-in-Chief), Model UN, and more. He is grateful for CHCI NextGen because he was fully immersed in an accepting community of students with shared identities and motivations. In addition to this, the environment created by staff was empowering as a first generation student and as a Latino leader.
