Elizabeth is a first-generation American raised in the vibrant rural community of Alliance, Nebraska where her parents both migrated from Jalisco, Mexico. They instilled in her a strong work ethic and emphasized the importance of education at a young age to achieve the “American Dream”. Elizabeth’s main goal is to make her parents proud and all the sacrifices they made for her and her siblings worthwhile.
Elizabeth is currently a junior at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska majoring in Political Science with an emphasis on communication and legal studies. On-campus, she is involved as a member of the Delta Zeta sorority, Panhellenic Council, Lambda Pi Eta Communication Studies honorary, and the Cardinal Key honorary. Elizabeth strives to become an active member of her community by being highly involved in community service events and volunteering for non-profit organizations.
Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Elizabeth plans to attend law school and pursue a career as an immigration attorney and provide legal services for immigrants in removal proceedings. This passion has been fueled through interning at one of the top-rated law firms in Nebraska this past year, Monzón, Guerra & Associates.
As a CHCI Intern, Elizabeth hopes to enhance her leadership by executing meaningful work and networking with Latinos who are making a difference. Elizabeth believes that this program will teach her that she has the power to be an agent of change and grant her the tools to transfer these experiences to become a leader in her community.
