Emeli Garcia

Hometown: San Luis, Arizona

School: San Luis High School

Raised in Mexico, Emeli Garcia emigrated to the United States at the age of 12, accompanied solely by her siblings. Emeli attends a border town school where she has received incredible support from both her teachers and counselor, who have encouraged her to expand her horizons and seize endless opportunities. She proudly serves as a Peer Leader in her local nonprofit, Campesinos Sin Fronteras, where she has learned the value of commitment, community, and culture, and the importance of embracing both failures and accomplishments. Emeli aspires to earn a bachelor’s degree in political science and then attend law school to become an attorney. Through this journey, she hopes to inspire and guide Latinos not only in the United States but also in Mexico. She aims to teach those without parental figures that with enough determination and sincerity, they can become remarkable leaders. In CHCI NextGen, she learned that there is no such thing as a “finish line.” Opportunities and paths are endless if you have the courage to pursue them.
