Fernanda Avila Lopez

Fernanda Avila Lopez is a proud Mexican-American from San Jose California. Fernanda is currently a senior at Presentation High School where she serves as the President of the Latinx Affinity Group. Fernanda is also a woman of faith, who serves as an altar server and youth leader at her local parish St. John Vianney. She is deeply concerned about issues affecting the Latino community, as she recently attended an immersion trip in Nogales Sonora, Mexico, where she was able to humanize, complicate and accompany migrants. Furthermore, she serves as a youth commission leader for San Jose’s district 2 youth advisory council, a governmental organization that empowers youth to be civically engaged through local and city wide events. The amazing opportunity to participate CHCI NextGen has empowered her to continue fighting for her passions of helping the marginalized, and she is truly thankful for this wonderful opportunity.
