Johnathan Betancourt was born and raised in Queens, New York. Both of his parents immigrated to the United States from Colombia during a very tumultuous time in Colombia’s history. Both fled their country in search of a new beginning and a better future. Through hard work and dedication, they managed to accomplish their goal and provided their children with the opportunity to succeed in life.
Johnathan Betancourt attended CUNY Queens College and recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science as well as Media Studies. He made the dean’s list his last semester and is a part of the Phi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society. Before joining CHCI, Johnathan Betancourt worked for a tenants’ rights advocacy nonprofit organization and assisted tenants with their housing needs as well as preventing homelessness.
As a CHCI Intern, Johnathan hopes to garner more knowledge of the legislative process via hands-on experience on the Hill! Johnathan also hopes to make long-lasting connections with young professionals as well as experienced members on Capitol Hill.
