As a hard-working and ambitious young Latina, Lilia Lucero has always done everything in her power to help those around her, seeking to work as an active member of her community from the start. Volunteering for various charity projects with Lilia’s high school club as well as helping out with a soup kitchen in her spare time exposed Lilia first-hand to many issues weighing her community down. Influenced by the experience, Lilia eventually began working as a secretary and volunteer for the immigrant aiding organization Northside Latin Progress. Lilia’s work at the organization allowed her to learn the inner workings of a charity and about how change was produced despite having minimal resources. Inspired and empowered to do the same, Lilia molded her burning passion for helping into a life goal. Through CHCI NextGen, Lilia has gained confidence and a priceless community full of like-minded individuals all committed to helping each other out and accomplishing the very ambitions she aspires after.
