Lilia Perez
Hometown: Los Angeles, California
School: RFK UCLA Community Schools
Lilia Jaquelyn Perez is a first-generation child who comes from Mexican parents from Oaxaca and Puebla. She was born in Los Angeles, California and has grown up in Koreatown. She has participated and led a couple volunteering events. She has become an ambassador for her school in hopes of better developing and spreading information about college and career readiness She works as a hostess partime, babysits her brother, and babysits her cousins from time to time. She has been deeply passionate about politics and making a change for the better of this country since she was 10 years old. After a couple presidental candidates and congressmen were elected, she did not see herself or her ideas reflected in them. Because of this, she wants to become someone who other hispanics and latinos can relate to and feel heard. CHCI NextGen offered Lilia the oportunity to be able to get more hands-on with this topic and connect with other youth who are interested in politics.
