Mildred Az Pelico, a first-gen Latina student who strives to learn and grow, was afforded the opportunity to participate in CHCI NextGen, which was a wonderful experience for her. Through the program, she learned new things about her future, leading her to feel preprepared about the world that is waiting, waiting for her to show herself and her ability to make change as a Latina women. Not only did Mildred learn but she also grew as a person, allowing herself to socialize with many other youth who are also trying to change the world through their voices. She met many people around the world that symbolize the importance of being a Latino student in leadership. A proud Latina born in Guatemala, CHCI NextGen encouraged Mildred to be ready to speak her mind about the many issues around the world and who she represents!
