School: New World School of the Arts
Siena Devine Guzmán is a senior at New World School of the Arts (NSWA) in Miami, Florida, where she studies on the pre-professional dance track in ballet, modern, contemporary, and jazz. She has trained in NYC at Dance Theatre of Harlem and Joffrey Ballet School. A dual citizen of Brazil, of Bolivian, Italian, and Irish descent, she speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and French, and considers learning languages—including the language of the arts—key to understanding and transcending our political differences. As President of the NWSA Class of 2025, Siena is passionate about advocacy for free speech, public education and the arts, environmental justice, and DEI. She applied to CHCI NextGen to communicate with her representatives about the many challenges facing her community, from book bans and defunding of the arts to the teacher crisis and attacks on immigrants’ rights. By understanding these challenges in a broader context, she aims to work with other advocates locally and across the country to make Florida and the U.S. more hopeful political communities for young people.
