Valencia Rodriguez is a daughter of Mexican-American and Peruvian-American parents from San Antonio, Texas and Washington DC. Growing up in Fairfax, Virginia, Valencia is currently the Vice President of Fairfax High School’s Latino Student Union, the President and founder of Fairfax High School’s PERIOD chapter, and a STEM robotics and writing tutor, as well as a peer mentor. She’s passionate about helping her community using a hands on approach as well as enacting positive change on a broader level. She feels empowered by the NextGen program, as it helped her grow confident as a Latina in government and connected her to many like-minded individuals. Valencia looks forward to working as a lawmaker, where she hopes to ensure a more equitable future for all.
