Born in El Salvador, Christian and his family immigrated to the United States in search of a better life. Raised by a single mother, Christian learned at a young age the understanding of perseverance and hard work as he saw his mother overcome various hardships. Christian is a DACA recipient who came to understand that it was essential to use his voice to advocate for the rights of those who are undocumented. Christian’s passions stem from his experience being undocumented for which he is determined to advocate for more accessible education, affordable healthcare, and also wants to help change and reform the criminal justice system.
Christian is currently a Dream.US scholar at Marymount University. He is a senior majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Business Administration. Christian is a member of United We Dream, which is the largest immigrant youth-led network in the country. Christian has worked with this organization to create change at both a national and local level. In his hometown, he was able to testify and work with the city council to pass a city ordinance protecting the rights of his community. Christian wants to continue his work of advocacy by becoming a lawyer and wants to be a voice for those who cannot defend themselves.
As a CHCI Intern, Christian hopes to better understand how Congress and the legislative system works. He hopes to use this experience and the knowledge learned to become a better advocate.
