Josue Rocha

Current Position/Organization

CHCI-Meta Intern

Hometown: Arlington, Virginia
School: University of Notre Dame
Major: Computer Science, Political Science
Placement: The Office of Rep. Andrea Salinas

Josue was born and raised in Arlington, Virginia, just outside of the nation’s Capital. Both of his parents are immigrants from Mexico who moved to the United States in search of better opportunities for both them and their future children. Growing up, his parents emphasized the importance of education and giving back to one’s community. On campus, Josue has worked closely with the Institute for Latino Studies (ILS) which awarded him with a merit scholarship going into university. With the institute, he has helped spread the field of Latino Studies on campus and tell Latino stories which have been overlooked for so long. Josue has always found unique ways to achieve his goals, striving to make his family and community proud.

Josue is a senior at the University of Notre Dame majoring in Computer Science and Political Science. Upon completing his undergraduate degree, Josue hopes to combine his two majors in impactful ways, particularly with voting rights. He is passionate about the role that modern technology can have to increase voter turnout in local Latinx communities. Josue looks forward to returning to the D.C. area so that he can help communities nationwide make their voices heard, while staying close to his own.

As a CHCI Intern, Josue hopes to gain a better understanding of the inner workings of Capitol Hill. He hopes to find his place and see where he can best put his skills to use after graduation.
