School: Theodore Roosevelt High School
Kevin Zaldaña is a son of Salvadoran Immigrants from South Central, Los Angeles. He currently volunteers at East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, and The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights – Los Angeles and is President of his school’s MEChA Chapter. Kevin is passionate about preserving identity and cultural knowledge as well as Human Rights issues and hopes to become an Immigration attorney in the future. Through the NextGen program, Kevin was able to gain an understanding of the power he holds as a first generation Latino and dismantle the complex systems that were created to keep us out. He looks forward to working in the legal field and helping uplift people and communities of color.
