Lila Quezada

Congressional Intern, Presented by CHCI
Hometown: Santa Fe, New Mexico
School: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Major: Political Science
Placement: Office of Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez

Lila Quezada was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she first found the value of community and connection. She is the daughter of a Chilean immigrant who survived the 17-year dictatorship. Growing up, she heard countless stories of hardship and resilience her family encountered, and she has always been driven to make a change by helping others.

Lila is currently a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Social and Economic Justice. She is an active member of the UNC Young Democrats, working to get students registered to vote and supporting countless North Carolina campaigns. She is the recipient of the prestigious John Lewis Youth Leadership Award for her dedication to her community and passion for social justice, awarded by the New Mexico Secretary of State. Upon graduation, Lila plans to continue her path in social justice and advocacy through non-profit work and political campaigns. She has a deep passion for immigration rights and women’s health issues and hopes to concentrate on those areas.

As a CHCI Intern, Lila wishes to gain hands-on congressional experience and learn about the ins and outs of the legislative process. She is excited to strengthen her leadership skills and collaborate with other powerful advocates.
