Francisco “Franky” Adame was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, in a Mexican and Puerto Rican household where family, resilience, and community have always been central to his identity. Growing up in a culturally rich environment shaped his understanding of the importance of representation which continues to drive his commitment to uplifting and advocating for his community.
Franky is currently studying at the University of Iowa, double-majoring in Ethics & Public Policy (specializing in Sociology) and Philosophy, with a minor in Dance on a pre-law track. On campus, he serves as the Marketing Chair and Cultural Awareness Chair for the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc., where he is a member of the executive board and leads initiatives centered on civic engagement, cultural awareness, and community building. He is also involved in the Iowa Edge Program as a peer mentor, supporting students in their transition to college and helping foster a sense of belonging. Through his work with Joan Kato and Everyday Voters, Franky has contributed to efforts focused on increasing civic participation and empowering young voters, further strengthening his interest in public policy and advocacy.
Looking ahead, Franky hopes to pursue a career in law or public service, where he can advocate for underrepresented communities and work toward more equitable systems. As a CHCI Intern, Franky hopes to gain firsthand experience within the legislative process, strengthen his advocacy and leadership skills, and develop the tools necessary to effectively serve and uplift his community.
