Victoria Ceballos was born and raised in the vibrant city of Miami, Florida. Her parents immigrated to the United States from Panama. Having always been taught to never give up, she has been dedicated to volunteering ever since she began middle school. Now she continues these endeavors at Yale University, where she is studying the History of Science, Medicine, and Public Health.
Victoria continues to be a voice for her student body as a member of Yale’s residential college student government board, the board of Latina Women at Yale, and as a dedicated volunteer at her local community clinic. Yet, she has never stopped giving back to her home in South Florida, volunteering with a nonprofit she has worked with since she began high school, as well as at her local hospital every time she returns home during breaks. She aspires to make meaningful changes in the public health field and to begin her journey toward becoming a physician who defies borders.
Victoria plans to use her CHCI internship to deepen her commitment to service by learning how public policy can address health disparities and strengthen support for underserved communities. She hopes to gain insight into the policymaking process while advocating for initiatives that improve access to healthcare, particularly for immigrant communities. Through this experience, Victoria aims to build the skills necessary to bridge the worlds of medicine, public health, and policy as she continues her journey toward becoming a physician dedicated to advancing health equity.
