Brayan Garcia was born in Michoacan, Mexico and is a first-generation scholar seeking post-secondary education, Sir. Garcia intends to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics and a minor in Business Management.
Sir. Garcia’s current educational achievements are the following: He is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. He maintains academic excellence by maintaining a 3.9 GPA and serving the community by helping charitable nonprofits and fundraising for locals. In addition, he is associated with the following leadership program, the Center for Sustainable Social Systems, and the Transformar Summer Leadership Institute. Furthermore, he is in the Economic Association of the University of New Mexico Department of Economics. Lastly, Sir. Garcia is in the Air Force 4-year Leadership program in the Detachment 510 Reserve Officers Training Corps. Sir. Garcia’s long-term goals are to prepare himself to be civically engaged in his community by empowering the community and advocating for Hispanics/Latinos in the United States of America.
As a CHCI Intern, Sir. Garcia intends to acquire the professional and leadership skills necessary for a career. In addition, he intends to support UFW farmworker rights advocacy efforts. Using this experience, he hopes to make a difference in his community and inspire others to do the same.
