Carla immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of 3 and was raised in the city of Pomona, California. Carla graduated in May 2021 with a B.S. in International Business and Marketing Management. Carla hopes to obtain a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership or Education Administration. During college, Carla has always made it a priority to advocate and educate university campus-wide committees and councils of the incoming generation of undocumented students who are being left behind by DACA. Carla has spearheaded initiatives regarding the need for a more equitable, inclusive, and empowering educational experience for undocumented students at Cal Poly Pomona as an Immigrant Leader for Undocumented Student Services and the Inaugural Officer of Diversity & Inclusion for Associated Students, Incorporated.
Her career goal is to become an educational strategic leader that establishes effective programs and centers of excellence in secondary and post-secondary education. Carla aims to guide the undocumented youth to better academic and internship opportunities for careers in business administration and business social sciences.
As a CHCI Intern, Carla hopes to strengthen her knowledge of the legislative process for higher education, immigration, and foreign affairs. She aims to use her experience at CHCI to develop strong servant leadership and return to guide her undocumented student community to better academic and professional career pathways.
