Eva Alvarez Ero
Current Position/Organization
CHCI-Best Buy Intern
Hometown: North Babylon, New York
School: University at Albany
Major: Political Science
Placement: The Office of Sen. Chuck Schumer
Eva was born and raised in La Vega, a province in the Dominican Republic, where she lived before immigrating to the United States at age five. As someone who loves to learn, Eva has always been extremely dedicated to her studies, proud to be a First Generation student and the first daughter and granddaughter of women who made significant sacrifices to get her where she is today. Also being someone who is devoted to creating welcoming environments for those around her, she spent several months as an Orientation Leader helping the most recent freshman class become acclimated to her university.
Eva is currently a senior at the University at Albany, pursuing her bachelors in Political Science with a concentration in Global Politics and a minor in Sociology. She also hopes to obtain a Masters in Public Administration with an emphasis in Public Economics and Finance and later on, a doctorate in Political Science so that she may carry out her ultimate career goal of being a professor. Eva’s goals to teach and inspire were amplified after obtaining the opportunity to speak at the Opening Convocation for the Class of 2026, where she emphasized the importance of the voice of an individual and the strength of a collective in times of social change.
As a CHCI Intern, Eva hopes to gain experience with constituency work while gaining insight into the impact that immigrants have on our economy and also hopes that this experience will expand her ability to communicate with others.
