Guillermo Muñoz-Calanche is a proud Chicano and Fronterizo from El Paso, Texas. Growing up on the U.S.-Mexico border in a mixed-status family, Guillermo witnessed from a young age the struggles that working-class unauthorized families endure daily. His upbringing has fundamentally shaped his desire to use his education and career to cultivate and foment radical change throughout his community.
As a current undergraduate student at Macalester College in The Twin Cities, majoring in both American Studies and Political Science, Guillermo intends to pursue a lifelong career in law and community organizing. At Macalester College, he is a competitor for the school’s nationally ranked Moot Court Team, and is a participant of the Bonner Scholar Program, through which he regularly engages with the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota as an intern.
With CHCI, Guillermo hopes to strengthen his understanding of how public policy can be wielded to protect and better the lives of communities who have historically been marginalized.
