Jorge Ambriz
Jorge Ambriz serves as a Legislative Assistant. He manages a broad legislative portfolio that includes education, labor, science and technology, agriculture, arts and humanities, LGBTQI+, financial services and other issues. He is especially motivated by advancing policies that improve outcomes for students and working families while supporting his office’s legislative priorities.
A proud Mexican American and first-generation college graduate from Phoenix, Arizona, Jorge’s public service journey has come full circle. His interest in policymaking began in 2011 as a Congressional Intern with the
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute in the office of the late Congressman Ed Pastor, Arizona’s first Hispanic American elected to Congress. He later interned in the district office before beginning a decade-long career as a
Mathematics and AVID teacher in the Phoenix Union High School District, where he once was a student. Through his AVID certification, he helped foster a college-going culture and implemented strategies to prepare underrepresented students for rigorous honors and AP coursework. Witnessing how policy decisions shape classroom realities inspired him to return to Washington to advocate for equitable education and opportunity.
In his spare time, Jorge enjoys trying new foods, building LEGO sets, running and exercising, traveling—especially visiting state capitals and Major League Baseball stadiums—and sightseeing around the District of Columbia.
