Lezlie Hilario was born and raised in Perth Amboy, New Jersey by two Dominican immigrants. Navigating her way as a first-generation college student at a predominantly white institution (PWI), Lezlie is striving to be an advocate for Latinos and people of color in higher education.
Lezlie is a rising junior at Villanova University. She is currently majoring in Political Science and Global Interdisciplinary Studies while minoring in Peace & Justice and Public Administration. On Campus, she is the Co-President of the Latin American Student Organization (LASO) and is on the leadership team for “BIPOC”, a multicultural student-athlete group on campus. She is also a three-time Dean’s List recipient. Lezlie’s ultimate career goal would be to work for UnidosUS in order to provide resources to Latino families across the nation and internationally.
As a CHCI Intern, Lezlie hopes to develop her community organizing skills while also learning more about the legislative process. She is confident that the tools she obtains through CHCI will help her effectively advocate for a more equitable America.
