Lorena Guerrero was born and raised in Southwest Detroit, Michigan, with roots in Guanajuato, Mexico. She is a proud product of immigration, sacrifice, and hard work. She is currently a student at the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, majoring in Public Policy with an emphasis on Social Policy and minoring in Spanish. After earning her undergraduate degree, Lorena aspires to pursue a master’s degree in public policy.

On campus, Lorena serves as Vice President of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc., Beta Omicron Chapter, and contributes to research on repression, dissent, and confinement of groups and identities within a global context. As a fluent Spanish speaker, Lorena is passionate about advocacy, representation, and expanding opportunities for underserved communities. During the summer of 2025, Lorena interned in the Executive Office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer as a Constituent Services Intern.

Lorena is excited to head to Washington, DC, to experience government on a larger scale. As a CHCI Intern, she hopes to connect with aspiring leaders from across the country, deepen her understanding of public service, and gain skills she can bring back to her community to create meaningful change.
