Pedro Adrian De Anda Plascencia
Pedro Adrian De Anda Plascencia was born in Tepatitlán, Jalisco, México and raised in South Gate, California. He is the product of two hardworking parents, who immigrated to the U.S. in the early 2000s in pursuit of a better life for Pedro and his two sisters. Pedro credits his strength, passion for public service, and resiliency to his mother. Pedro currently serves as a Legislative Aide, where he works on energy and environment issues for his boss. In this capacity, he drafts constituent correspondence, and has helped introduce over a dozen bills.
He is an alum of the CHCI Public Policy Fellowship, where he covered judiciary issues for Senator Padilla (D-CA) and had the opportunity to work alongside five counsels. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, Pedro served as a Legislative Fellow in the California State Senate through the Capital Fellows Program. As a fellow, he staffed his boss on the Judiciary committee and had a bill that would establish Entertainment Zones in San Francisco signed into law by Governor Newsom.
While living in Sacramento, he was elected to serve on the board of the California Latino Capitol Association Foundation, as the Fellows Representative and Internship Coordinator, where he organized and led a 6-week internship for 14 community college students, the largest cohort in the history of the program. Pedro is an alum of the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned two Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and English. As an undergraduate student, he was involved in student government, multi-cultural Greek life, and a plethora of student organizations. He also worked as a Writing Tutor on-campus, where he was one of the few Latino tutors supporting his peers as they navigated collegiate-level writing.
In his spare time, Pedro enjoys Facetiming his mom and sisters, spending time with his friends, and exploring the East Coast with his partner. Pedro plans to pursue law school in the near future.
