2026 Latino Hill Staff Academy
Sofia Godoy
Sofia Godoy grew up in South Florida, and she is very proud to call such a diverse and resilient community her home. A daughter of immigrants from Mexico, Sofia is equally as proud of her cultural heritage. Above all, she is committed to fighting for the immigrant and Latine communities that made her into the person she is today.
Sofia is currently a Legislative Assistant. In this capacity, her work centers foreign affairs, human rights, democracy reform, voting rights, and other related policy areas. Before her current role, Sofia was a Legislative Correspondent for Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ). While in the Senate, she focused primarily on the issues of immigration, border security, and education.
Prior to working on the Hill, Sofia served as a political appointee in the Biden-Harris White House. This was her first job after graduating from Yale University, where she majored in Political Science and Ethnicity, Race, and Migration. Throughout college, Sofia did not let distance keep her from her community and remained active in South Florida politics. Most notably, she worked as a Field Organizer for the re-election campaign of Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, the first South American immigrant to be elected to Congress. During her undergraduate career, Sofia also engaged in advocacy efforts with UnidosUS and helped provide legal aid to
immigrants in her hometown.
