Stefany Aida Quiroz was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Honduran immigrant parents. Growing up the oldest of four siblings, she understands the importance of working hard and giving back to her community.

Stefany is a senior at the Macaulay Honors College at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice, pursuing a double major in Political Science and Latin American & Latinx Studies. As the first in her family to attend college, Stefany is determined to use her education to uplift and serve her community. Outside of the classroom, she has experience tutoring and mentoring students from underserved communities and is deeply committed to issues of educational equity, housing, immigration, and criminal justice reform. Currently, she is interning as an immigration law intern while also tutoring system-impacted individuals. On campus, she is an Honors Scholars Council representative and is involved with the DEI and Latinx Honors Committee. She hopes to attend law school and continue her advocacy work in public service. 

As a CHCI Intern, Stefany hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the legislative process and how policy decisions impact underserved communities. She is excited to learn from and work alongside other passionate young leaders and use this experience to further her commitment to social justice. Stefany is committed to leveraging her CHCI internship to champion the voices of historically underrepresented communities in policymaking, dedicated to advocating for the rights of those who have been marginalized and silenced, and tirelessly pursuing true empowerment, equality, and justice for all.
