Manager, High School Leadership Program
Evelyn Aponte is the Manager, High School Leadership Program at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. She works collaboratively to develop and deliver the annual NextGen Latino Leadership Program hosted in Washington, DC for rising 11th and 12th grade students. Evelyn is inspired to be on a team whose values and mission align with her professional goal to increase post-secondary access and retention for Latinos in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Prior to joining CHCI, Evelyn served as a mentor for first-generation college students at Edu-Futuro, a nonprofit organization in Arlington, Virginia. There, she supported first-gen students in making the successful transition to college and empowered them with culturally-relevant resources and services to take ownership of their education.
Evelyn is a proud Puerto Rican-Ecuadorian who was born and raised in Northern Virginia. In May 2022, she graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia with her Bachelor of Arts in History and Hispanic Studies. Now Evelyn spends her free time doing Zumba, playing soccer, thrift shopping, and enjoying quality time with friends and family.
