Yvette Maldonado
Current Position/Organization
Vice President, Human Resources & Information Technology
Yvette is the Vice President of Human Resources and Information Technology at CHCI, where she strives to make the organizational culture fulfilling, inspiring, and supportive for all the staff. People are at the top of Yvette’s priority list at CHCI, just as they were when she managed a large group of American Sign Language interpreters as the Mid-Atlantic Center Manager for Purple Communications and as the HR Director for IBSS Corporation.
Yvette and her HR team are responsible for talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, compliance, training, and professional development. She enjoys the time she spends coaching and providing guidance to the CHCI staff and program participants, skills she has learned from many years of managing people, projects, and programs, at all levels. Yabucoa, Puerto Rico is Yvette’s hometown. After high school, she swapped the tropical Island for the hot desert at Arizona State University where she studied computer system engineering. Student employment opportunities at Hewlett Packard, Digital Equipment Corporation, and NASA prepared her for the 15+ unique years she spent working at Intel’s manufacturing facilities and embedded systems division. Yvette paired her advocacy work in the Latino Community with her love of STEM by founding the Intel Latino Network in 1993, the second ever Employee Resource Group at Intel Corporation. Most of her career, Yvette has worked in the technology industry where she kept her passion of increasing Latino representation in STEM fields alive by volunteering to support students in her community. She loves to help Latino students have life-changing experiences as she has. That’s why in 2019 when the opportunity to work at CHCI came up, Yvette was excited to take a leadership role in the organization.
