Francisco López was born In Los Angeles, California after his mother migrated to the United States from Guatemala at the age of 18. As a first-generation student Francisco was the first to graduate from high school and attend a four-year university. Currently, he is majoring in Criminology and Criminal Justice with minors in Spanish and Sociology on a pre-law track at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Francisco is passionate not to allow his adversities in life to limit his dreams of becoming an immigration attorney while also advocating for improved immigration reform and uplifting the marginalized voices within his community.
On-campus, Francisco is heavily involved within the Greek system being a proud member and President of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity, Inc. – Phi Alpha and the Multicultural Greek Council UNL Chapter. Further, Francisco actively participates in student organizations such as Define American, Mexican American Student Association, and the Office of Academic Success & Intercultural Services (OASIS). His hard work stands on its own as he received numerous awards on a local and regional level that highlighted his dedication, service, and lasting impact on both a personal and organizational level.
As a CHCI Intern, Francisco aims to enrich his professional development while being educated on governmental processes, which will ultimately provide him the experience needed to better advocate for the Latinx community and other disadvantaged communities.
