2026 Latino Hill Staff Academy
Jocelyne Barajas
As a Legislative Director, Jocelyne serves as a lead policy advisor, where she oversees a comprehensive portfolio of agriculture, energy, immigration, and appropriations to deliver essential resources.
A proud daughter of Mexican immigrants and a native Texan, she was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Science in University Studies from Texas A&M University. Her academic background includes a concentration in Agricultural Leadership and Development, complemented by minors in Geography and Geology.
Before her current office, Jocelyne honed her legislative expertise working for Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. and former Congressman Tom O’Halleran. Driven by the belief that policymaking only succeeds when it reflects the population it serves, she is deeply committed to increasing Hispanic and Latino representation in politics. Outside of her work on Capitol Hill, Jocelyne enjoys traveling with her husband, diving into a good book, or experimenting with new recipes.
