Isabella Delgado-Castillo was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and immigrated to the United States with her parents when she was five years old. She now resides in Winter Garden, Florida with her parents and younger brother.
As a Reilley scholar at the University of Notre Dame, Isabella is currently pursuing dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Civil Engineering. As an undergraduate, she was a member of Project Ricardo, an international development project that aimed to improve potable water access and water hygiene practices in Arcabuco, Colombia. This project sparked an interest in community and neighborhood development that she has continued to pursue through internships with local community organizations in South Bend, Indiana. Upon earning her undergraduate degrees, she hopes to pursue dual master’s degrees in Architecture and Urban Planning, with the ultimate goal of helping to design more sustainable, equitable, and resilient cities.
As a CHCI Intern, Isabella hopes to gain insight into the legislative process, which she hopes to eventually use to help craft public policy that better protects and supports the Latinx and other vulnerable communities, as well as develop as a Latina Leader.
