Maddie Isla is a rising senior and child of Peruvian immigrants. They currently are on their school’s student council, co-president of the oSTEM (Out In STEM) chapter at their school, the Public Relations officer of both Key Club and Chinese Culture Club, and an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in their community. CHCI NextGen has helped Maddie network with others, has made it easier for them to reach out for help, and has made it easier for them to communicate with others. Their experience has gave them more courage to be a leader, and has also made it easier for them to be comfortable with their identity. Maddie is not afraid to speak up against injustices done onto others, and hopes that someday minorities get the rights they deserve.
