CHCI-HEP CAMP Participant
Hometown: Aberdeen, Idaho

Magalli Morado Landaverde was born in Queretaro, Mexico. She moved to the United States when she was twelve-years-old because of financial issues back in her natal country. She is currently a first-year student at Boise State University with a declared major in Computer Science. She is the first in her family to attend a four-year American university. Although dealing with financial issues, language barriers, and cultural differences were difficult in the beginning, Magalli was able to overcome all of these obstacles to graduate high school. Currently, she pursues higher education as a way to reciprocate her parents’ multiple sacrifices made when they migrated to offer her a better-quality life. As a first-generation Latinx, Magalli’s dream in life is to become an inspiration for younger generations, who might have similar experiences to hers. Since high school, Magalli has taken an interest in pursuing leadership opportunities as well as learning more about the Latinx community’s struggles with education. Thus, becoming an education advocate with the professional objective of becoming a software developer to help humanity overcome physical and language barriers.
As a CHCI and CAMP participant, Magalli aims to enrich her professional development in governmental and educational processes, which will ultimately provide the experience needed to better advocate on behalf of her Latinx community and other disadvantaged communities.
