LUPITA QUEZADA-OROSCO
Current Position/Organization
CHCI-HEP CAMP Participant
Hometown: Tifton, Georgia
School: Valdosta State University
Major: Elementary Education
Lupita Quezada-Orosco was born in Moultrie, Georgia, to a mother born in Tamaulipas, Mexico. She is currently a first-year student at Valdosta State University with a declared major in Elementary Education. She is the first in her family to attend a four-year university and serves as a role model for her younger cousins, who are also seeking higher education. The struggles her single mother faced as an immigrant in a country where systemic discrimination prevailed has undeniably given Lupita the motivation to break the systemic barriers and persevere in everything her mind desires. Lupita is committed and passionate and does not allow her adversity to limit her dreams of becoming an educator and uplifting the marginalized voices in her community.
As a CHCI and CAMP participant, Lupita aims to enrich her professional development in educational and governmental processes, which will ultimately provide the experience needed to better advocate on behalf of her Latinx community and other disadvantaged communities.
