Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

Major: Economics and Political Science
Placement: The Office of Rep. Blunt Rochester
Brandon Hernandez is a 3rd-year undergraduate at The Ohio State University, double majoring in Economics and Political Science. On-campus, Brandon is part of a scholar’s program and is involved in various organizations. Most notably, Brandon is a veteran mentor for the MESA: Leadership Institute, a program focused on the academic and cultural development of first-year Latinx students at Ohio State, and the “Media Analyst” for the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPHA) OSU chapter. Brandon is a first-generation college student with cultural ties to Mexico. He’s the oldest of three brothers and is originally from Cincinnati.
Although Brandon is interested in a variety of policy areas and issues (i.e. immigration, universal health care, and economics), his biggest passion by far is promoting diversity and inclusion. Being an advocate for social justice, Brandon believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to be able to better themselves or their circumstances. Some of his other passions include music, literature, and maintaining physical and mental well-being.
As a CHCI Intern, Brandon hopes to work on meaningful legislation that helps others and combat injustices as well as gain valuable industry experience that will better equip him in understanding the mechanisms involved within the political process and navigating policy issues. He hopes to productively apply all the knowledge and experience gain throughout this internship to help others and be a voice for marginalized groups.
