Taína was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in Camden, New Jersey. At the age of ten, she and her family moved back to Puerto Rico where she spent the majority of her childhood. Growing up, she saw her family go through many hardships. Being the first person in her family to graduate high school and attend college, Taína recognizes the value of education. On-campus, she was a member of the Student Body Council as an Academic Student Senator and a mentor for newly enrolled students. Taína has always been a hard worker, aiming to be the role model she wanted growing up.
Taína is currently a senior at the University of Puerto Rico in Humacao majoring in International Business. Upon completing her undergraduate degree, Taína hopes to obtain a master’s degree in international relations with an emphasis on global policy and national security. Her ultimate career goal would be to work for the United Nations Economic and Social Council representing Puerto Rico and help restore and stabilize the island’s future for generations to come.
As a CHCI Intern, Taína hopes to gain knowledge in public policy procedures and gain insight into U.S. diplomat practices. She hopes to be able to use this unique experience to encourage others to follow their dreams and become the change they want to see in the world.
