Erika Pototsky was born in Valencia, Venezuela, and raised in South Florida. As a first-generation immigrant, Erika understands the hardships of the Latino community. From a young age, Erika was always interested in serving her community in Venezuela. Erika is also an alumna from the CHCI R2L NextGen program in 2016. This experience cultivated her interest in civic engagement and the desire to serve her community. Through the program, she realized her passion for helping her homeland and providing aid to those in need. She intends to continue informing people about Venezuela and administer relief to those struggling.

Erika currently attends Florida State University where she majors in Finance on a pre-law track. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Erika aspires to obtain a Juris Doctor degree in hopes to become a leader in her community. She wants to practice corporate law and ensure corporations are not crossing legal boundaries. Erika’s ultimate career goal is to become mayor of a town and improve the community.

As a CHCI participant, Erika hopes to strengthen her knowledge of legislative processes and how policies impact local government. Erika hopes to apply this experience towards her own career goal to give back to her community and empower young leaders to follow.
