Marc Gonzales (he/him) is a Mexican-American, born and raised in San Diego, CA. Marc’s family has instilled in him a strong work ethic and a passion for serving the public. His parents sacrificed many hours working multiple jobs and overtime to award him and his sisters opportunities to learn new skills and improve themselves. Marc’s two sisters have been tremendous examples to follow and learn from; it’s clear that this family cares for one another and the work they do.
Marc graduated from San Diego State University with a major in economics and a minor in philosophy. As an undergraduate student, Marc focused on building connections with others through community service projects and internships. His work with San Diego State University’s Pre-Law Society paved the way for him to work at the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office where he implemented new systems within collaborative courts to ensure criminal defendants and cases are reviewed after being sentenced. His determination and positive attitude have allowed him the opportunity to help others in the community and strive for a more
positive future.
Marc hopes to improve his communication, writing, and leadership skills by helping others and trying to tackle new projects. He plans to serve the community through a legal career centered around the public interest and aims to improve the lives of underrepresented minorities by first learning about the legislative process and judicial system as a CHCI-API Public Policy Fellow.
